I LOVE this tool! That is exactly what it is. I bought the entire set. I saved the entire cost of this in revisions without paying drafting fees!
I wanted to give this 5 stars! It’s such a cool idea, and I was so excited to get it that I started playing the moment it arrived. It is packaged beautifully and with such care, so I was a little disappointed that a number of the grids had small but noticeable scratches on them. But, oh well/thats life—things get scratched. The real issue I have is that the magnets in the grids aren’t strong enough to make the smaller elements—more specifically the walls—stay where I put them. Every time I add a new wall segment, door, or window, it moves whatever is already there, which then needs to be realigned. This has been a real impediment when adding or rearranging elements, which is, at least for me, the system’s purpose. If there is a good way to stabilize/secure elements better while they are on the grid that will still allow me to move pieces as needed (i.e. not permanently gluing them down) please let me know. Maybe I’m doing it wrong? If so, maybe you could add some how to/best practices tutorials to your website? I would love to update my rating (and look forward to using it more—thanks!
The room planner is excellent, and would be perfect with a few additions to the basic plan, namely, office and bedroom furniture. For example, there are 2 desks and several bookcases, but no file cabinets. There are no dressers or chest of drawers for the bedrooms. I found that building the walls and windows was quite time-consuming and ended up laying my own paper floor plan on top of the base, and easily arranging the magnetic furniture on top of the paper. The magnets worked through the paper!
